‘Uzukumaru‘ is a tiny jar originally used to store ingredients such as grains. In Muromachi era, it became to be cherished as a flower vase in the tea ceremony. The Japanese word ‘Uzukumaru‘ means to crouch down which resembles the shape of this kind of pot.
蹲（うずくまる）は、信楽焼のちいさな壺のことです。もともとは穀物などの貯蔵に使用されてきましたが、茶の湯で花入として取り上げられるようになりました。人がしゃがみこんだ形に似ていることから、「うずくまる」と命名されました。
